Welcome to Östgöta Nation, Lund’s very first nation!

Congratulations to your admission!

Dear student, welcome to Lund!

This marks the start of your time as a student in Lund, a time filled with joy, amazing people and memories for life. Lund’s student life is famous throughout the country, and now it’s time to make the most of Your student life. During your time here you night go to balls, ride a tandem bike from Gothenburg, go to spexes, celebrate Skvalborg, Finalborg and everything in between, and bathe in the disgusting puddle we call Sjön-Sjön. It is our opinion that all of this and all of the other dumb traditions we have down here, become even better as part of one of Lund’s student nations. The most fun will obviously be had at the very first one: Östgöta Nation.

What is a nation?

The nation’s were created to give students in Lund a second home, outside the walls of the university. The nations provide everything from lunches to clubs, to very preferable student prices. You also have the opportunity to seek scholarships, go to balls, participate in a whole variety of activities and most importantly: engage and have the possibility to meet lots of new friends!

To join a nation and your student union is also the only way to get access to all of Lund’s student life.

Join Östgöta Nation!

First, register as a member of Studentlund and then take a short walk to Östgöta Nation on Adelgatan 4, just behind AF borgen, where you visit our sign-up that opens on the 22nd of August! In the beginning of each term we have extra open hours specifically for the sign up period, so come and sign in Monday-Friday 10.00-18.00, or Saturday 17.00-18.00!

The only things you need to sign in are your ID-card and your admissions letter or registration proof. If you are an international student you also need your LU-card

There will always be workers at the sign-up, who can answer any questions you may have regarding the nation, the novice period, membership, becoming active, or how you apply for accommodation in our lovely house.

The week at Östgöta Nation

Every week the nation has several activities for students to take part in. We open for the term on our bar opening on the 27th of August!

Why Östgöta Nation?

In the year 1668 three students at Uppsala University were expelled for “bad behaviour”. The same year these students moved to Lund and started Östgöta Nation. Had these students seen us today they would have been proud, because our love for life and mischief have not lessened since.

Östgöta Nation is with its founding in 1668 the oldest nation in Lund, and with our incredible location on Adelgatan 4 we are also the most central one, situated only 100 meters behind AF-borgen, the heart of student life in Lund.

The nation’s long history has given us plenty of tradition, and we arrange several traditional events every year, such as our day party on the last of April. Our everyday activities are also broad, to make sure students get as much out of the nation as possible on a day to day-basis. We have pubs, lunches, brunches, sports- and culture groups, and two popular nightclubs that we don’t mind bragging about: Our hip hop club Downtown and houseclub Sunset

At Östgöta Nation you can become active in clubwork, cooking, baking, photography, sports, our choir Ostrochorus (the only nation choir!) and a lot more. As a member of Östgöta Nation you also get unique privileges, that you can read more about on the bottom of this page.

Östgöta Nation is the nation for those who value both old and new, but maybe above all else, for those who value having a damn great time.

This term at Östgöta Nation

Fest Filbyterium Lundense – our annual ball. One of the very first chances you as a new student has to attend a proper student ball in AF borgen. The day after the ball there is a ball lunch, where the party goes on all day long.

Silent Disco – what in later years has become one of our most popular events, and an essential part of a perfect term in Lund. Only once a term, and only at ÖG.

The Punsch Party – our annual celebration of student life’s maybe most beloved beverage. An internal party for members only.

The Christmas Party – the nations Christmas celebration and festive completion of the term. An internal party for members only.
